Questions related to undergraduate advising should be directed to either Pat Bennett or Carmen Etienne of Undergraduate Advising Office (Tel. 248-370-2201).

Graduate Advising

The graduate advising for matters related to admission, transfer of courses, and teaching assistantships etc is done on a walk-in basis on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3.30-4.30 PM every week during fall and winter semesters. No appointment is necessary but the students are advised to contact the departmental office (248-370-2200) prior to coming for advising. During spring and summer semesters, advising is done by appointment only.

FAQs and Answers

1. Do I need GRE?

A. GRE is required of all applicants having a terminal degree from outside USA and Canada. We conditionally admit students for one semester without GRE; the admission is put on hold if GRE score is not submitted by the end of the semester for which the conditional admission was granted.

2. My undergraduate degree is not in computer science. What prerequisite courses do I need?

A. Most applicants need CSE 505, 506, 507, and 508. However, the exact determination of prerequisite courses for you can be done only after looking at your transcripts and other documents relating to your experience.

3. Can I do prerequisite courses at any other institution?

A. Yes. You can do prerequisite courses at any other institution. Before registering for a course at any other institution, you need to make sure its content matches well with OU's prerequisite course.
